ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a skilled and visionary Cloud Architect and Head of Cloud Department to lead the strategy, design, and delivery of modern cloud solutions for our high-profile clients across the DACH region. In this role, you will combine deep technical expertise with leadership and team-building capabilities. You will guide the cloud team, oversee complex projects, and ensure that cloud strategies align with both client needs and our company vision. Your leadership will directly shape the growth, performance, and future direction of our cloud capabilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic & Technical Leadership

  • Define and drive the organization’s cloud vision, ensuring technical innovation and alignment with client goals.

  • Lead architecture planning and implementation across public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).

  • Serve as a senior technical advisor for cloud decisions, ensuring performance, scalability, and security.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Mentor and coach a growing team of cloud architects and engineers.

  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.

  • Identify growth opportunities within the team and actively support skills development.

Recruitment & Hiring

  • Drive the hiring strategy for the Cloud Department.

  • Define job profiles, participate in interviews, and ensure smooth onboarding and integration of new team members.

Project Ownership

  • Lead and manage large-scale cloud projects from concept to delivery.

  • Oversee timelines, resourcing, and stakeholder communication.

  • Ensure that technical delivery meets business and client expectations.

Cloud Architecture & Engineering

  • Design and build secure, scalable, and maintainable architectures in AWS, Azure, or GCP.

  • Leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC), microservices, and serverless design patterns to increase efficiency and agility.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement and govern cloud security best practices and frameworks.

  • Ensure solutions are compliant with industry standards and data protection regulations.

DevOps & Automation

  • Promote DevOps practices and lead the development of CI/CD pipelines.

  • Enable automation across infrastructure provisioning, monitoring, and deployment workflows.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with clients across the DACH region, understanding business needs and translating them into cloud solutions.

  • Present architecture designs and technical strategies to business and technical stakeholders.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Cloud Expertise: Strong hands-on experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, including cloud architecture, migration, and optimization.

  • Leadership Skills: Proven experience in managing cloud teams and leading technical departments, including mentoring and hiring.

  • Project Leadership: Track record of successfully delivering complex, multi-stakeholder cloud projects.

  • Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of cloud-native design, IaC (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation), microservices, and serverless architectures.

  • Security & Networking: Advanced knowledge of cloud security, networking principles, and compliance standards.

  • DevOps & CI/CD: Familiarity with modern DevOps tools and continuous integration/deployment workflows.

  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and client-facing skills with the ability to engage and influence both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Language: Fluent in English (German is a plus, but not required).

  • Travel: Willingness and readiness to travel as required by project or client needs is expected. This may include occasional domestic or international travel, sometimes on short notice.
