ABOUT THE ROLE

We are growing our team and looking for a hands-on Cloud Engineer to help build and run the AWS infrastructure that powers our clients’ data platform. The role focuses on building reliable infrastructure, automating workflows, managing access and governance, and making sure everything our data and analytics teams rely on runs smoothly at scale. Client’s platform spans multiple AWS accounts and supports business-critical analytics and reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, build, and operate AWS infrastructure using CDK (TypeScript) and OpenTofu/Terraform.

  • Build and improve orchestration and automation using Step Functions, Lambda, and EventBridge, with a strong focus on reliability, error handling, and resilience.

  • Implement and manage data access and governance using Lake Formation, Glue Data Catalog, and Athena workgroups.

  • Own S3 at scale, including lifecycle policies, storage optimization, and data partitioning strategies.

  • Support and operate Aurora PostgreSQL / RDS and Redshift from an infrastructure perspective (provisioning, performance tuning, cost awareness, and maintenance).

  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitHub, including infrastructure deployments and environment promotion.

  • Contribute to centralized monitoring, security, and compliance practices across the platform.

  • Work closely with data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders, and help document and hand over solutions where needed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong hands-on AWS experience across services like S3, Lambda, Step Functions, Glue, Athena, Redshift, RDS/Aurora, and IAM.

  • Solid experience with Infrastructure as Code, ideally AWS CDK and/or Terraform/OpenTofu.

  • Strong Python skills (automation, boto3) and TypeScript experience (CDK or similar tooling).

  • Comfortable working with SQL for operational and platform needs.

  • Experience working in multi-account AWS environments (AWS Organizations).

  • Confidence building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (GitHub).

  • Good understanding of data governance, security, and compliance principles.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and clear communication (written and spoken English).

  • Willingness and readiness to travel as required by project or client needs is expected. This may include occasional domestic or international travel, sometimes on short notice.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Lake Formation and fine-grained access control.

  • Background in cloud migrations (on-prem to AWS).

  • Exposure to cost optimization / FinOps practices.

  • AWS certifications (Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer).
