ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Cloud Platform Engineer (Azure) to lead the migration, modernization, and optimization of Java-based applications to Microsoft Azure. The role will focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud solutions using Azure-native services. You will be responsible for assessing the existing application landscape, defining the target architecture, and driving the full migration process, from planning to go-live and optimization. This is a hands-on engineering role with significant impact on the client’s cloud transformation strategy.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the end-to-end migration of Java-based applications to Azure, from initial assessment to production go-live.

• Conduct a thorough review of the existing application landscape, including architecture, dependencies, databases, and performance profiles.

• Design secure and scalable Azure target architectures, selecting the right mix of services such as App Service, AKS, Spring Apps, and Azure Databases.

• Define and implement a clear migration strategy — whether Lift & Shift, re-platforming, containerization, or modernization — and manage phased rollouts to minimize risk.

• Build and configure Azure environments covering networking, storage, security, identity, and subscriptions.

• Automate deployments and operational processes using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar CI/CD pipelines.

• Execute migrations with tools like Azure Migrate and validate them through rigorous functional, performance, and security testing.

• Establish robust monitoring and observability with Azure Monitor, Application Insights, and Defender.

• Continuously optimize the cloud environment for performance, resilience, and cost efficiency.

• Provide knowledge transfer and training to operations teams to ensure long-term stability and best practice adoption.

REQUIREMENTS

Technical Expertise

• Deep hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including:

  • Azure Migration Services

  • Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)

  • Azure Networking, Monitoring, Resource Manager (ARM)

  • Azure Security & Identity (AAD, Defender)

  • Azure Storage, Databases, Subscriptions

  • Azure Container Apps & Services

  • Disaster Recovery solutions

• Proven track record in cloud-native application development and Java-based application architectures.

• Solid understanding of Java basics and frameworks (Spring Boot, Java EE/Jakarta EE).

• Experience in designing and implementing CI/CD pipelines.

Additional Skills

• Strong architectural and problem-solving skills.

• Familiarity with migration patterns: Lift & Shift, re-platforming, modernization, and containerization.

• Excellent communication skills to work cross-functionally and guide teams through cloud adoption.

• Certifications such as AZ-900, AZ-204, AZ-305 are a strong plus.
