ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Senior PL/1 Developer, you will plan, develop, test, troubleshoot, operate, document, and implement software or application components of third-party software and operating system software. You will work across the full software development lifecycle in an agile environment, ensuring high-quality, maintainable, and secure solutions within a complex enterprise IT landscape.
You will collaborate closely with business and technical stakeholders and contribute to knowledge sharing and mentoring within the team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Gather, analyze, and review functional and technical requirements for technical implementation and feasibility; translating requirements into technical software design
Ensure future maintainability of systems and consider the technical and functional environment in the overall context of software development and maintenance and operational support of the ABS IT system
Ensure non-functional solution requirements are met, e.g., performance, privacy, IT security and ergonomics/user friendliness
Advise and support customers and assist with functional analyses
Ensure know-how transfer and willingness to mentor new team members and junior colleagues
Software development in agile teams and input to methods of software engineering
Tools, technologies, architectures:
PL/1.
DB2 and SQL, incl. performance and tuning, monitoring with Prometheus/GRAFANA and XML.
IBM-Mainframe and the corresponding development tools.
IBM-Host emulation by Microfocus Runtime on Linux environment.
Linux.
Enterprise Server.
REQUIREMENTS
Fluent in written and spoken English & German (working language, at least B2).
University degree in computer science, mathematics, physics or similar or equivalent work experience.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and comprehensible presentation of complex issues and interrelationships.
Very good understanding of end-to-end customer processes.
Excellent PL1 knowledge, good DB2 and SQL knowledge.
Very good knowledge of Linux and modern IT infrastructure.
Ability to work effectively with customers and various departments and willingness, to support new team members.
Strong problem-solving skills – complex issues must be analyzed in close cooperation with the customer. Challenges must be solved proactively in close alignment with the customer.
Enterprise Server knowledge is a plus.
Willingness and readiness to travel as required by project or client needs is expected. This may include occasional domestic or international travel, sometimes on short notice.
